This sounds like a pretty crass question. Your answer more than likely is “Of course I am!” However, your answer may need to be a little more in-depth. I take great care of my boys. I homeschool three of them, make sure they have clothes to wear, good food to eat, take them places, build memories and even spoil them rotten from time to time. Unfortunately, when I really dig down, I may not be caring for them as completely as I should be.
When I was married to my ex-husband, I let him take care of everything. He had life insurance when we were married and I was a stay-at-home mom for the most part. If something happened to him we would be set, but what if something happened to me? Fast forward, and my ex-husband passed away in 2008. At that time he had no insurance, but since I was already the sole breadwinner for the boys, it didn’t affect us. However, I have to ask myself again, but what if something happens to me?
As moms and parents who stay-at-home, it is easy to realize the importance of having life insurance. I was reading an interesting article on ‘Why stay-at-home parents need life insurance‘, and it really made me realize that while I am taking care of the boys, I am failing to make sure that they will be taken care of should something happen to me. Just because I work at home does not mean that my income is not needed. In fact, it is the only income we have. So, I will be going onto the Genworth Insurance site and checking out the various life insurance policy options they have available for parents who work and stay-at-home.
What about you? Have you made sure your children will be taken care of should something happen to you?
