When I was growing up, I went to Summer camp each year for pretty much the entire Summer. During my months at camp, one of my favorite activities was always archery. It was a lot of fun, a little competition and a great way to enjoy the outdoors all rolling into one. My fond memories of archery are why it is so important for me to share that experience with my boys. This year, I am bringing archery back to my life and sharing it with my boys with Genesis Bows and their Build a Bow system.
The Benefits of Archery
There are a wide range of benefits to getting kids involved in archery. It improves hand-eye coordination, balance and helps improve focus and patience too. It is a social sport in line with bowling or table tennis, and can help kids develop a connection with nature. No bow helps easily transition kids into the sport of archery better than the Genesis Compound Bow. Kids can’t develop bad habits from an ill-fitting bow and because there is no specific draw length, they’ll not outgrow them.
In fact, many children are already interacting with Genesis Bows in their schools. The Genesis Original Bow is the official bow of the National Archery in Schools, and is used in over 13,000 schools by more than 2 million children nationwide!
The Genesis Build-A-Bow System
Genesis Bows are dedicated to helping everyone get the chance to experience the thrill of drawing a bow and letting an arrow fly straight to its target. With draw lengths from 15-30 inches, archers of all ages, sizes and athletic abilities can interchangeably use the same bow with no problem and no extra adjustment needed. When I heard this, I knew it would be perfect for us. I have four boys who are all different ages, sizes and have different levels of athletic ability, so to get the most bang for your buck, it made sense to get something they could all use.
Genesis Bows has an awesome Build-A-bow system that gets kids involved in archery from the very beginning, as they help design their very own bow. There are four styles to choose from, the Genesis Original, Mini, Gen-X and Pro. You just select your bow choice, choose whether you want to use it for right or left handed shooting, and then customize it with your choice of colors. The Original, Mini and Gen-X are also available in convenient kits that come with arrows and other archery necessities.
The boys chose and all camo design Genesis Pro bow, and were thrilled when it arrived. After a quick adjustment of the pull strength with an included tool and a quick safety tutorial from me, the boys were ready to take on the target. They did really well for their first actual practice session and I was impressed with both the bow itself and the quality of the arrows as well. The bow now gets used for practice on a daily basis, and all of the boys are able to pull it and use it at the same level with no further adjustment. Even I shoot it on a daily basis and have no problems at all.
