I never thought the day would come that I would say the words “I love this dress.” Never in my life have I been a dress person. My family all knows it as do my close friends. In fact, I only owned one dress that I bought for this past Easter from the maternity store before I received this amazing garment from Mikarose.com. From the moment I received the dress I knew I was going to love it. Well, that isn’t entirely true. I loved it like I love all cute dresses, but then I put them on and they are usually hideous on me. This one wasn’t though and that is why I am thrilled to finally say “I love this dress!”
“Mikarose is a clothing company that specializes in modest, elegant and fashionable dresses. Our company’s idea evolved when the owners realized how difficult it was to find modest dresses in today’s market. We are sure you have had similar experiences when looking for a modest dress. After many frustrating outings, we formed Mikarose. Our goal is to provide an extensive line of modest dresses, without having to sacrifice style. You will be able to wear our line to a broad range of functions: from everyday events to corporate parties.”
When I was looking for clothes to take with my to BlogHer in NY this year, I stumbled across Mikarose.com. I really wanted to try a dress this year, but have a hard time finding any that flatter me. I have a defined waist, but big hips. I am also pretty darn curvy. This does not bode well for most dress cuts. Empire waist dresses generally make me look pregnant when I’m not, most dresses cut “at waist” don’t hit me right, since my waist is really high and just accentuate my big hips. Trust me, it is a mess.
I loved all the adorable dresses on the Mikarose site and I liked their mission of modesty. Everyone who knows me, knows I am ultra modest and I love the length of their dresses and how feminine and chic they are. Once I got permission to do a review, I narrowed down my choices and chose the Serena dress in Cinder. When it arrived, I was a little nervous because the material was clingy and I knew I would have to wear it a few weeks after popping out the surro-baby. I put it on though and was pleasantly surprised.
The front flap of fabric on this dress, cleverly disguises any problem areas you may have in the front and a simple body shaper takes care of any trouble in the back. The cut of the top part of the dress accentuates all the right areas and there is just enough of a sleeve to disguise larger arms. The length of the dress is perfect and is long enough to not make me self conscious and short enough to not look dowdy. This dress truly is an ace in the hole and I plan on trying a few more from their site. I truly believe Mikarose has a firm grasp on what works for a wide range of women’s bodies.
You can purchase this, as well as many other great dresses and even accessories on the Mikarose.com website. Dresses are very reasonably priced and start at only $39.99, with sale prices that are even lower.
