1. Roasted pumpkin seeds instead of potato chips – If you’re looking for a salty snack, potato chips can leave you feeling greasy and unsatisfied. Instead, try roasted pumpkin seeds. You still get your salt fix, but without all the oil; plus, pumpkin seeds are a great source of protein, zinc and magnesium.


2. Trail mix instead of chocolate – Avoid the sugar rush and crash that comes with a bag of candy by eating trail mix instead. Mix in your favorite nuts, dried fruit and, to satisfy that sweet tooth, a couple chocolate chips too. Remember to go easy on the dried fruit, which deliver a large amount of sugar in a tiny package.

3. Tuna jerky instead of beef jerky – While any salt-cured meat will be high in sodium, you can reduce your saturated fat intake by swapping tuna jerky for beef jerky. It’s a nice change of pace from the classic road trip snack, and it will keep unrefrigerated for a long time.

  2. I've never heard of tuna jerky, either. I like tuna, and love beef jerky, so I would definitely like to try it. And I love roasted pumpkin seeds! 🙂

  5. I love pumpkin seeds and trail mix. I have never in my life heard of tuna jerky but I love jerky and tuna so i am thinking that would be a hit…at least with me LOL
