Gourmet Gift Baskets Review and Giveaway

Are you looking for that perfect gift for a person that you really have no idea how to shop for? Then Gourmet Gift Baskets may have just what you need. I know that I have several family members and people like my childrens’ teachers that I am just stumped when it comes time to pick out a holiday present, birthday or thank-you gift for. So, when I was given the go ahead to do a review of a Premium Snack Gift Basket, I thought it would be a great way to try out a potentially great gift idea for the future.

{In Their Words}

“Looking for gift baskets that really represent you and accurately convey your sentiments? Then look no further than Gourmet Gift Baskets. If you’re tired of the same old gift baskets dropped shipped from a warehouse, then you’ll love our handmade gift baskets made with award-winning, critically acclaimed gourmet foods.

Every one of our gift baskets is a masterpiece. Trust us to deliver superior quality, service and pay close attention to detail. We’ve been in the gift business since 1940, and we are a family run enterprise that is big enough to handle a 10,000 basket order, yet not too big where we can’t give you personalized attention. Give us a chance and you’ll have us send all of your gift baskets!”

{My Take}

When our premium snack gift basket arrived from Gourmet Gift Baskets, it came in a large box and was properly padded and shipped so that it was perfectly intact. I have received gift baskets in the mail from those larger warehouse companies and they have not always done as well, so I thought it important to mention this. After opening the box, I was kind of surprised by the size of the basket. I expected it to be big, but this was a lot larger and fuller than I had expected from just seeing the pictures on the site.

My favorite part of this whole package was in fact the basket it came in. It sounds funny, but this is a really heavy well made and beautifully stained basket that measure 16″L and 12″W. I still keep it in the middle of my dining room table to hold work and school related items. In the pictures below, you can see the basket as it first arrived and then after I have unpacked it. There is a good quality shred that is used in the bottom of the basket and not the tacky plastic Easter grass stuff that many companies have taken too.

After my initial assessment of the basket itself, it was time to chow down LOL. Gourmet Gift Baskets does indeed have a great selection of gourmet food items and each of their gifts reflect quality and style. That being said, there were some items that you had to fight for in my home and others that went untouched. All in all though, it was a delicious mix of items that featured something special for each member of my house.

My personal favorite were the cheese straws from J and M Foods. Seriously addicting and I would bite one of my kids’ hands off if they tried to touch them. They were that awesome! The boys fought over the Brent and Sam’s chocolate chip pecan cookies. What kid doesn’t love cookies? The shortbread cookies were awesome and I tried not to share, but eventually was forced to. My boys won’t eat peanuts, but I did try the Dillion Candy Co. peanut roll with a divinity center and it was good, but just to rich for my taste.

The coconut bar sad to say went untouched, but that is only because we are not a coconut family. The assorted snack mixes were turned down by most of us, but my 7 year old loved them and just finished off the second back. The box of salted peanuts was our average box of peanuts and we enjoyed them well enough too. The point is, that while the recipient of a Gourmet Gift Baskets package may not like each and every item in it, there is a large enough selection that they are sure to find plenty to love.

I like that there are a large selections of gifts in a variety of price ranges to choose from.  This fact makes these a great gift option for almost anyone.There are themed baskets according to holidays and people’s specific hobbies as well as care packages and even beer baskets for the men in your life. They have plenty of wonderful options in the $30 range and even a mixed fruit pack that is only $17.99. On the other end of the spectrum, they have enormous gift baskets that are $100 or more, but make great gifts for an entire family or for corporate clients.

One thing to be aware of however, is that sometimes the exact items you receive in the package are not always the same as the ones shown on the computer or in the catalog. Sometimes there will be substitution, but you will always get the same value and they try to substitute in the same product category. For instance, in the package we received there were supposed to be a different type of cookie than the one that actually arrived, but the one we got instead was actually more to our tastes so it worked out fine.

{Buy It}

You can purchase any of the hundreds of high quality gift baskets or request a color catalog on the Gourmet Gift Baskets Website. With gifts as low as $14.99 and a selection of sale items, these are an affordable gift option all year round.
