This is not the first subscription box I have tried with my children. This is the highest quality box I have tried to date, though. Not only did it come with crafts for my daughter to create, but there were also little books with further learning and activity ideas. I was also grateful that Kiwi Crate comes with everything necessary to complete the project.
I was sent the Nature Explorer Crate for my review. Not only does Kiwi Crate offer their monthly service, but you can also purchase stand-alone crates and the holiday crates are very popular. I tried earlier this month to purchase the Halloween Crates for my children and they were sold out, but you can grab a Thanksgiving Turkeys Crate right now.
The Nature Explorer Crate came with two activities for my daughter: my starlight lantern and my collection box. We worked on both crafts together. I split up our activities and it was enough to keep her busy for a whole morning. Here I want to highlight the starlight lantern.
What sets this craft box apart, in my opinion, is the quality of the products inside. The lantern came with thin colored sheets and a star punch. The punch is a crafting tool that we can reuse for future activities. It is well made and punched clean shapes. If you have ever worked with bargain punches before you know there is a big difference when it comes to quality.
As a Mom I was grateful for how clever the lantern construction was. We use glue and glue sticks regularly for crafting, but I don’t mind not having the mess. This project used cute star stickers to hold on the colored sheets instead. Since everything was included, this would be a great idea for taking on vacation, camping or even trips to grandma’s house.
The Instructional booklet was easy to follow and even included pictures so my daughter could follow along. Also included were things to think about, facts about life before electricity and constellations, as well as suggestions for how to use the extra materials left over.
Sign up for your own Kiwi Crate subscription or try out a single crate for the creative and inquisitive kids in your life or send one as a gift. These would make fun and unexpected birthday and Christmas gifts as well.
