The Perfect Hard Boiled Egg How To

With Easter right around the corner, families across the country and getting ready to dye eggs with the kids. I can still remember my first year boiling my own eggs. They came out awful. In fact, it look like a grenade went off in the pot, with the remains floating around in the water. After a few tips from my mom, I eventually learned the secret of creating the perfect hard boiled egg.

Step 1:

Place the eggs in a pot of water, just high enough to completely cover the eggs.

Step 2:

Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.

Step 3:

Remove the pot from the burner, cover and let stand for 15-20 minutes.

Step 4:

Remove the eggs and place them in a bowl of ice water.

By placing the eggs in ice water, you immediately stop the cooking process so that they do not become overcooked and you cool them down quickly so they are easy to handle for decorating. If you need a unique egg decorating idea, try out my 3D shattered Easter egg tutorial.
