A few weeks ago I introduced you all to a neat new tech gadget called Zubie. Since then, I have received my Zubie and have given it a spin in Bob the Van for a few weeks. I have learned a lot, not only about the health of my van, but also about the safe driving habits or lack thereof of the members of my family.
What is Zubie?
As a quick refresher for those who did not catch my last post, Zubie uses a little device known as a key that plugs into the diagnostic port of your vehicle, and a state of the art app to give you real time information about the health of your vehicle and so much more. What can it do?
- Monitors your battery level and alerts you to possible problems with your vehicle by analyzing maintenance codes.
- Tracks the location of the vehicle.
- Allows you to join groups with friends and family to share location information, so you can easily see where everyone is.
- Monitors your driving habits and reports on things like hard breaks, speeding and rapid accelerations.
My Life with Zubie So Far
I love Zubie so far. As you can see from the map below, the Zubie app not only tracks where you yourself are, but also the location of your vehicle. In this photo, I am down near Tampa visiting my sister while Bob the Van is back home in Tallahassee with Matt and the boys. Think how handy this would be if your car were to be stolen, or your teenager was out past curfew and you wanted to know where they were!
The other things I am loving so far is the ability to see the driving habits of different divers in the family. In our house, both Matt and I drive the van. After a few trips I began to notice that Matt had a pattern of hard breaks and rapid accelerations, particularly at the end of our road. Check out one of the reports from his trips.
See the report from mine? No speeding, hard breaking or rapid accelerations. Guess women aren’t bad drivers huh?
The health tracker for the vehicle on the Zubie app is great for peace of mind as well. We have not had any problems reported yet, but it is nice to know that if there was one, we would be alerted and could find out what the problem is before it got serious.
