I am almost 100% convinced that aliens come down and abduct children’s brains the minute they turn 13, and do not return them until that are 18 or older. It is not secret, teenagers can be testing and trying, and let’s face it, downright upsetting to be around at times. That said, the teenage years are some of the toughest a person has to face, and children need a little extra love and attention to make it through them. I’m going to be sharing with you a few reasons why telling your teens you love them and showing them as much love as you possibly can is really important every day.
-Teens are Vulnerable: Being a teen is difficult because they are going through puberty and their hormones are raging! Sometimes they can feel alone and when their self esteem is on the low side, they need all the love they can get. I know teens can sometimes act as if they don’t want you saying you love them, but do it anyway. Even though they may not act grateful for that love, it will make an impact on them and they’ll definitely have that in the back of their mind for when they need it. Think about it, children do not stop needing love and hugs the minute they turn 13, so why should you stop giving it?
-Love Helps with Stress: High school can also be a very stressful time of life for a teen. Between studying for tests and staying up on their grades and still hanging out with their friends, it can be stressful to balance all of that. If you find that your teens seem stressed and on edge, let them know that you love them and you’re there for them. You can help them with anything they need and this will help to relieve some of that stress off of them.
-Provides Security: When you are letting your teens know that you love them it makes them feel safe and loved. You would be surprised at how often teens feel terrible because their parents are not as involved in their lives as they would like. For example, if you are a parent that works a lot and is not very involved in your teen’s lives. Taking the time to get involved and tell them you love them helps to provide security at a time they need it most.
-They’re Growing Up Fast: Kids grow up really quickly right before your eyes! Make sure that you spend as much time as you possibly can with them and let them know how much you love them as much as you can before they are living their lives as adults.
It’s a simple fact that your kids, no matter if they are small or teens never stop needing to hear their parents tell them that they love them. It is so important for their emotional stability to know that they are loved and cared about from their parents! So remember, next time you feel like you are at your whit’s end with your teenager, maybe that is when you need to tell them you love them the most.
